Indian Rocks Beach (located in the Tampa Bay and Clearwater areas) , initially developed in the 1920s as a weekend getaway
destination for wealthy Tampa residents, boasts three miles of the friendliest beach located in
Pinellas County. People come from all over the world to visit Indian Rocks
Beach for the city's fine beaches and to watch the beautiful sunsets. The city
currently has twenty-plus beach accesses located along Gulf Boulevard. Indian
Rocks Beach, a quiet town of 4,200 residents, is a barrier island located on the West Coast of Florida, only
a 30 minute drive from Tampa International Airport. Gulf Boulevard runs
North & South through Indian Rocks Beach. To the north is Belleair Beach and
to the south is Indian Shores.
Indian
Rocks Beach attracts many tourists due to its wide sandy beaches and convenient
proximity to many Florida attractions including Busch Gardens, Walt Disney
World, Universal Studio, and Sea World. The area provides several
outstanding restaurants (Crabby Bills, Guppy's, and Brewmasters Steakhouse), and a variety of gift and convenience stores. In
addition, there are antique stores within minutes of the Beach Trail Cottages as
well as the Clearwater Aquarium.
Located just a short ride
south from Indian Rocks Beach is John's Pass Village, a quaint turn of the
century, fishing village. John's Pass Boardwalk offers many services including
more than one hundred unique shops, inviting restaurants, daily fishing
charters, excellent fishing off the pier, and boat or jet ski rentals.
For
those visitors bringing their pets with them to Indian Rocks Beach, there is a
dog beach on the Belleair Causeway and a dog park just a few minute's walk from
the Beach Trail Cottages.
